One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is learning to master the art of self-discipline. Learning how to tell yourself no is an important step to become a stronger, wiser and more mature person.

While practicing self-discipline isn’t easy, there are many benefits to mastering this art of personal control:

* Self-discipline can help you achieve your goals and realize your dreams. Many times, achieving the goals you set for yourself requires you to sacrifice time, money and energy you might prefer to spend on other things. Are you willing to have this dedication?

* Self-discipline helps you get more done. By cutting out time wasters in your day, you can accomplish more every day and reach your goal sooner. Without the self-discipline to stick to a task, you can be easily distracted by less important details. Are you willing to remove these distractions?

* Self-discipline helps you have greater focus. By shutting out the things that take you away from your work, you can focus on what is most important. You can’t say yes to everything and everyone; you must be able to focus on one thing at a time and do it well.

In “The Science of Self-Discipline” Kerry Johnson teaches proven-effective techniques that empowers you to exercise self-discipline Automatically.

Focus is nearly impossible to achieve without self-discipline, and goals are nearly impossible to achieve without focus. Are you willing to focus intensely on your goals?

The keys to self-discipline are simple. If you make a commitment to someone, keep it. If you make a commitment to yourself, guard it with your life!

* If you break a commitment to yourself, remember that you are human. You need to prioritize your commitments to yourself in the same way you prioritize other people’s needs.

Part of self-discipline is self-respect. In order to live the life you truly desire, you need to care for yourself properly.

Respect every part of yourself:

1. Respect your body. Pay attention to the signals your body sends you. We’re masterfully created, and your body will tell you when something is out of balance. Listen to the signals and treat yourself with VIP handling to be the strongest and most productive you can be!

* Consider adding exercise or yoga to your daily routine to help you achieve balance in your body and mind.

2. Nurture your mind by filling it with positive, engaging information.

* Read books for the sheer joy of learning.
* Engage in meaningful discussions with people of all backgrounds and philosophies.
* Avoid negative people and conversations.
* Listen to joyful, uplifting music instead of letting the television flood your mind with commercialism and negativity.

3. Respect the spiritual part of yourself. It’s important to feel connected to something larger than you are. Connect with your Creator by meditating, praying or spending time in nature.

* Attend worship services at a local church, if that’s part of your belief system.
* Allow the spiritual side of yourself to become stronger and more important to you.
* Base decisions on the greater good rather than simply what feels good at the time.

4. Respect your physical health. Taking good care of your health requires self-discipline. Your body will help you accomplish amazing things if you treat it properly!

* Eat a healthy diet.
* Get plenty of rest and exercise.
* Strive to maintain a healthy weight.
* Refuse to smoke.
* Avoid over indulging in caffeine or alcohol.

5. Respect your time. This includes your work time, family time, playtime and personal time. Make space in your life for every area. Schedule family time and alone time just as you do work time and other obligations.

* By adding everything to your written agenda, you create a priority within yourself and self-discipline helps you stick to your priorities.

If you want to live your life to the fullest and achieve your goals, self-discipline is a must. Learning how to control your impulses and make strong decisions is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Self-discipline can bring you the life you always wanted.

1. State your goal as a declaration of intention, not a wish. “I want a promotion at work”, is a wish. “I will be promoted at work by acquiring the skills I need” is a powerful declaration.

2. Break down long-term goals into several small short-term goals. “I will save $2,400 this year” can become “I will save $46.15 each week.”

3. Find your why? Why do you want to achieve this goal? What will it mean to you? Are there any negatives about achieving the goal? Do some soul searching. The stronger “WHY” you have to achieve the goal, the motivated you will be to succeed.

4. Be clear about what you want. “I want to find a job” is way too vague. “I will obtain a job in the legal field that will help me to expand and grow” holds more punch.

5. Do not keep your goal a secret. By sharing it with people you trust, they will be able to encourage you to keep on going when things get tough.

6. Write your goal each day. Preferably, with pen and paper, though you can type it on your computer. This cements your goal into your subconscious and builds a strong belief that you can and will achieve it.

7. Read your goal aloud to yourself each day. Say it with conviction and feeling.

8. State affirmations daily. If you have a hard time believing your affirmation, use questions. Instead of affirming, “I feel confident that I will earn $100,000 a year.” Ask yourself “Why do I feel confident in my ability to earn $100,000 a year?”

9. Meditate every day. Meditation clears the mind and allows your imagination to be creative in giving you inspired action to take that will speed up your success. Meditation also helps you to stay focused and reduces stress.

10. Question yourself. When you begin to doubt yourself ask yourself what limiting belief has formed to create the doubt. Is this belief true? Who would you be without the belief? Are you willing to let go of it?

Get your Free SMART Goals Worksheet

11. Search out people that have achieved the goal you are working on. Learn what they did and pick out steps that make sense to you and incorporate them into action items.

12. Brainstorm ideas that can help you achieve your goals faster. Get out a sheet of paper and begin listing everything that you can think of that can help you achieve your goal. You could include items such as learning something new or interviewing people that have succeeded.

13. Visualize yourself achieving your goal. How do you feel? Where are you? Who is with you? What do you look like? What are you wearing? What do you see? What do you hear? Take a few minutes every morning and night – just before falling to sleep, really enjoy the feeling of success!

14. Let go of perfection. NO ONE is perfect – nope, not even you. Aiming for perfection creates success and keeps your talents and goals hidden. Know that things are not supposed to be perfect. Do the best you can and go on to the next step. Imperfection is what makes the world go round and keeps things new and exciting.

15. Be Flexible! Allow freedom for miracles to happen in your life. If your goal is to earn $100,000, do not be specific to every detail of how it will happen. Remember that there are millions of ways to achieve any goal and the way you are thinking, may not be the fastest, easiest or the most fun path to take.

16. Take Action! Regardless of how clear you are about your goal, or how much you visualize and affirm, ACTION is required to achieve any goal. Take some form of action every single day that propels you closer to your dream.

17. REWARD each and every success! This builds self-confidence and cements the belief that you will achieve everything you set your mind to.

18. Be persistent. Do not give up. See yourself blasting through challenges. The challenges you face builds your confidence and creates growth.

Are you living the life that you want to live?

Why or Why Not?

It could be that you are too afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Maybe you want to start a new business online, change jobs, move to another city or a host of other desires that you are keeping an arm’s length away.

You tell yourself that your really want to have this experience in life. In the same breath, they will list a thousand reasons why they can’t. Whether your reason is fear of failing, fear of being made fun of, fear of not being smart enough, fear that you don’t have enough time or fear that you don’t have the right resources … They are ALL excuses that keep you from expanding.

True fear is an emotion experienced in anticipation of pain or danger towards ourselves or our loved ones. This is when our body acts in the “Fight or Fleet” mode for our basic survivor.

The fear most of us experience today is more along the line of anxiety or stress. This fear leads to procrastination and keeps us from living the life we want.

The acronym for FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real. You may be wondering what this means to you. It means that you create your own fear by your thoughts. You have imagined scenarios or events that have never actually occurred. You have become a prisoner of your own mind – frozen in fear. You believe it’s safer to stay in your “box” then it is to climb out of it and begin living the life you claim you want.

What is it you really want?

Most people want the same thing …. Freedom, Happiness and Love.

One of the ways to achieve this is by having your own online business. Have you ever thought about how great it would be to have your own business? How would it feel to have a thriving business that could grow, while giving you the freedom to share quality time with your family and pursue other hobbies and interests?

If you have ever thought of beginning your own business, have a dream of helping others or already have a small website that is just sitting there and not doing much, consider signing up for the Success Charged Master Mind Group. You’ll learn the ropes of creating a successful online business and meet like-minded people.

Keep in mind that freedom, happiness and love CAN NOT CO-EXIST with FEAR. You can overcome fear by taking action – even if it’s a teeny-weeny step. With each step you take, you will realize that there was nothing to fear at all. With each step you will adapt to a new way of thinking and living which expands your life and your opportunities during your path to success.

I have always thought the actions of men the best interpreters of their thoughts. ~John Locke

Every action starts with a thought but not all thoughts lead to action. How many times have you thought of a great idea but didn’t follow through with it?

What are your thoughts? What is it that you truly desire?

You’ve probably heard a lot about the Law of Attraction and Positive Thinking. I wholeheartedly believe in these techniques – however many people are led to believe that all they need to do is think and visualize to make their dreams come true.

It’s important that you know that Your thoughts, dreams and words will not magically give you the things you long for.

The only way you can create the life you desire is to TAKE ACTION.

For example if you visualize yourself in your dream job making a 6 figure income, and every day you affirm this by stating “I work at my dream job making a 6 figure income” – but don’t take action by acquiring the knowledge, skills and training you need for that job … You are just daydreaming.

In our example above, you may not know what skills and training you need …

That’s the beauty of the “Law of Attraction” is that by visualizing and affirming what you want, the answers will come to you on how to obtain it. You need to take action as soon as possible after you receive the answer.

Start a success journal. Every day write down the actions you took that will bring you one step closer to reaching your goal. You’ll be amazed at how all the little things add up.

Stop procrastinating and just do it. How many times have you dreaded doing certain task – and then after you’ve started you really get into it? It also usually takes a lot less time to achieve the task than you originally thought it would. And, you feel so much better once it’s done!

As you continue to use The Law of Attraction you’ll be surprised at how motivated you become to do whatever it takes to succeed.

You need to find the balance between positive thinking, visualizing and taking action. By utilizing the “Law of Attraction” and taking action when the answers come to you – you will achieve your goals quicker than you ever thought possible.

Actions Speak Louder than Words

There are a lot of “talkers” in the world. Some are more eloquent than others. Some people know a little about everything – and their words seem to back them up – but do their actions?

These people easily dish out their opinions on every subject – but rarely if ever take their own advice.

Who are you more willing to follow – the person that acts in the same manner they speak, or the one that doesn’t?

“Remember, people will judge you by your actions, not your intentions. You may have a heart of gold – but so does a hard-boiled egg.” Author Unknown

Back up your words with action. This will reinforce that you believe what you say.

Look at the following words – Which action backs up the words spoken?

“I’m sorry I was late”
* Continues to be late
* Starts arriving on time or even early

“I love you”
* Never makes time to spend with you
* Makes it a point to spend as much time as possible with you

“You are important to me”
* Ignores you when you speak
* Listens to you with interest

“You are my friend”
* Can’t help right now too busy
* Drops everything to help you in your time of need

“Good Job!”
* Snickers as they walk past you
* Pats you on the back

“This food tastes awful”
* Continues to eat
* Pushes the plate away

“I want to lose weight”
* Continues with the same eating and exercise (or lack of) behaviors
* Begins a diet and exercise plan

“That sounds like a great idea”
* Walks away and never gives the idea a second thought
* Thinks of a plan to make the idea a reality

“We’ll get together some time”
* Turns and walks away
* Sets a date and time to meet again

“I deserve a raise”
* Continues to complain to whomever will listen
* Tells the boss how valuable he/she is and asks for a raise

“Someone is being unfair to me”
* Continues to be hurt and sad
* Confronts the person

It’s true actions speak louder than words – simply because our actions should back up our beliefs and morals.

When you are confident in yourself it’s a lot easier to back up all your words with actions.

The Science of Self Confidence Training Kit teaches you how to build rock solid self confidence.

Often times we’ll say something, but don’t take action out of fear. Other times we just really don’t care about the situation and are just trying to be nice or appease someone.

It’s important to use words to show love, appreciation and approval – however those same words will take on MUCH more meaning when you follow through with actions.

How often have you told yourself “I won’t do it again” “I’ll do it right the next time” “I agree with you” …

Isnt’ it time you let your actions speak louder than words?

I’ll never forget a demonstration from a speaker I saw during a Tupperware convention I attended …

The speaker called a lady up on stage and told her to “TRY” to pick up a chair.

The lady easily picked up the chair.

The speaker said “No, no, no – I told you to TRY to pick up the chair.”

The lady looked puzzled – she sort of stood there and just looked at the chair ….

THE LESSON:
You either take action and DO, or take no action and FAIL

So many of us will say …

“I’ll try to get around to it”

“I’ll try to lose weight”

“I’ll try to save money”

“I’ll try to clean the house”

“I’ll try to accomplish my goals”

“Try” is sort of like “Tomorrow” it just sort of never comes.

Sometimes I think we say “I’ll try” because it gives us permission to “Not Take Action” – thus we don’t have to be afraid of failing.

Action is necessary to achieve anything in life.

If you just sat in your living room, thinking – “Gee, I sure would like a glass of water.” You’re just a wishing and a dreaming ….

You need to TAKE ACTION by getting up off the chair and going into your kitchen, taking a glass out of the cupboard, and filling it with water. Then you can enjoy it.

The same rules apply if you want to lose weight, start a business, improve your self-esteem, buy a house …

ANYTHING your want to accomplish…. You need to TAKE ACTION to achieve it.
Otherwise you are just wasting your life away by wishing and dreaming.

Decide right now ONE thing you can do to begin working towards your goal and TAKE ACTION by following through and doing it. Sure, you might not succeed the first time, wipe your self off and do it again – remember PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!
