<p>We all get a kick out the saying &#8220;The voices in my head tell me &#8230;&#8221; statements. This statement isn&#8217;t too far from the truth in regards to how your mind works.</p>
<p>Your thoughts are constant.  In other words you &#8220;talk to yourself&#8221; ALL day &#8211; every day.  These thoughts are the &#8220;voices in your head.&#8221;  You&#8217;re probably familiar with the various commercials and cartoons that illustrate an angel on one shoulder whispering in the ear and a devil on the other shoulder whispering in the other hear.</p>
<p>This is the way your mind works.  You have one voice telling you:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">* You can do it<br />
* You are strong and confident<br />
* Go for your dreams</p>
<p><em>And then you have that other little voice in your head telling you:</em></p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">* You can&#8217;t do that!  Are you kidding me?  What happens if you fail?  You&#8217;ll be labeled a laughing stock<br />
* Do you really want people knowing how weak you are? You are not as confident as others. People will know that you lack confidence.<br />
* Remember when you tried something familiar and failed? Do you want people to know you&#8217;re a failure? It&#8217;s scary to take a risk.</p>
<p><em><strong>This is simply the inner struggle of your mind.</strong></em></p>
<p><em>The first voice is your inner spirit.</em> It&#8217;s telling you your dreams and inspirations.  It really wants to guide you in achieving all of your dreams. Your inner spirit wants you to open up the box and jump out of it with arms spread open to embrace all that you can receive and all that you can accomplish.</p>
<p><em>The second voice is ego</em>.  The job of your ego is to keep you safe.  However the recordings that the ego relies on &#8211; are not necessarily true.  These recordings are made of everything that you’ve been told, everything that you have seen and everything that you have experienced.  The ego is normally full of self-limiting beliefs. The ego wants you to stay in the box where it&#8217;s warm and comfy.</p>
<p>This is where habits are formed.  Your habits can either help you or hinder you.  They either keep you in a vicious cycle of doing the same things over and over again &#8211; while hoping for different results. Or your habits can help you create the life you want and achieve all of your dreams and goals. It’s your choice.</p>
<p>Start listening to the voices in your head.  Use your conscious mind to determine what is true and what is not true.  Use your conscious to record and establish new positive beliefs about yourself and your future.</p>

<p>It’s important to learn to master your thoughts, feelings and emotions.  Learn to share them in a positive manner so that they don&#8217;t cause you or anyone else undue stress or harm.</p>
<p>One of the best ways to manage your emotions and improve your health at the same time is by expressing gratitude.  You can find something to be grateful in almost every situation.</p>
<p>What are you thankful for right now?</p>
<p>Who matters in your life?</p>
<p>Can you name 5 things that you are grateful for?</p>
<p>Even when the world seems to spinning out of control around you, there are many things that you can be grateful for.</p>
<p>Share your gratitude with others.  Other people may not know how much you appreciate them.  You cannot know another person’s feelings or thoughts and shouldn&#8217;t assume they know yours.  Tell everyone that means something to you &#8211; how grateful you are for them.</p>
<p>What do you think will happen when you share your heart felt gratitude with those you love?  Can you see them smile? Can you see their eyes light up?</p>
<p>When you share your gratitude with others it helps your heart, mind and body thrive.  A flood of chemicals are released into your body &#8211; It feels good! Both you and the receiver will benefit.</p>
<p>There are many physical objects that you may have that you are grateful for.  Have you ever thought about sending a thankful message to the manufacturer?  Customer service probably gets bogged down with complaints &#8211; How nice it would be for them to hear of your gratitude!  Give them some of your gratitude and you&#8217;ll spread joy all around!</p>
<p>Sharing gratitude is easy and only costs you a little bit of your time.  Here are some simple ideas to start sharing gratitude with others.</p>
<p>* Tell your loved ones you care for them<br />
* Hug a friend who&#8217;s hurting<br />
* Smile at a stranger<br />
* Open the door for a stranger<br />
* Offer a stranger a helping hand<br />
* Make time to listen to someone who needs to talk<br />
* Appreciate the beauty of nature<br />
* Volunteer your services<br />
* Greet everyone with a smile<br />
* Wish all you come into contact with a &#8220;Great Day!&#8221;</p>
<p>Focus on What Really Matters</p>
<p>Many people are unhappy with their current circumstances.  They may feel like they don&#8217;t have enough money, a good job, the house they want or the car they want.  They don’t realize that the only way to change their current circumstances is to begin changing their thoughts.</p>
<p>You can begin to change your thoughts by being connected with what really matters. Be grateful for all that you have been given.  Be grateful for your home, your bed, your carpet, your clothes, your car &#8211; EVERYTHING.</p>
<p>There will be obstacles and stumbling blocks in life, but there is joy all around you as well. When you tap into that joy, keep a positive attitude, and show how grateful you are, you&#8217;ll prove that you&#8217;re able to let go of unnecessary baggage. It&#8217;s a great feeling, and one that you can give yourself, today, right now. What a wonderful thing to be grateful for!</p>

<p>You feed the one that you think about the most.  This is why it is so important for you to be aware of your thoughts!  We have up to 60,000 thoughts each and every day.  What are you thinking about the most?</p>
<p>If most of your day is spent blaming others for your life &#8230; Or if you&#8217;re caught in the &#8220;Could&#8217;ve and Should&#8217;ve&#8221; mentality, you are feeding the evil wolf.  If you&#8217;re like me you may not really like the word evil, but this  type of thinking is bringing everything into your life that YOU DO NOT WANT &#8211; so isn&#8217;t that evil?  The sad truth is that you are bringing it on yourself.</p>
<p>I also wouldn&#8217;t consider your &#8220;ego&#8221; to be necessarily evil.  Your ego simply tries to keep you safe from harm.  Maybe the author meant an over-inflated ego &#8230;</p>
<p>On the other hand, if your thoughts focus on kindness, love, generosity and truth your life will mirror back the same.  You need to be true to yourself.  Find your authentic self.  Feed the good wolf &#8211; the one that will ultimately bring you peace and happiness.  The one that will inspire and enrich your life.</p>

<h3>Your thoughts are not always true!!!</h3>
<p>Don’t you think that it’s good that all of your thoughts aren’t’ true?</p>
<p>A lot of thoughts can be silly and crazy, some depressing or grim. Other people might not understand your thoughts. How many times have you thought &#8230; What if the sun didn&#8217;t shine?&#8221; &#8221; What if that car pulls out in front of me?&#8221; or &#8220;Wouldn&#8217;t it be funny if &#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p><em>Wouldn&#8217;t it be horrible if all of your worrisome thoughts came to pass?</em> It&#8217;s believed that 92% of what we worry about never happens.</p>
<p><strong>We have over 50,000 thoughts every day</strong>. Many of your thoughts repeat themselves throughout the day, the week, the month and the years &#8230;. Your subconscious begins to accept these repeated thoughts as fact.</p>
<p>This is where a lot of our self-limiting beliefs come from. At some point we hear something or get some thought in our head from an outside influence. It could be that you overheard someone say that you didn&#8217;t write or speak well. It could be that you talked too much, were too shy, too thin, too fat, too slow, too clumsy &#8230;</p>
<p>The list goes on and on.</p>
<p>As this thought keeps replaying over and over in your head –you begin to believe it and will act accordingly. You will develop habits that keep you aligned with this belief.</p>
<blockquote><p>Here’s a funny story about me. I am 8 years younger than my sister. Sometime in my life I got it in my head that she had my nephew when she was 16. For years I believed my nephew was 8 years younger than me. A few months ago he came out to visit me – a week after my 50th birthday …</p>
<p>We argued about how old he was. I kept telling him “Marty, I know you are 42! I am 50 and you are 8 years younger than me!!!”</p>
<p>Marty replied “Aunt Cindy, I am 41 years old! I know how old I am.” His children were telling me the same thing.</p>
<p>I was so adamant that he was trying to pull my leg that he finally pulled out his driver’s license out of his wallet and said “Look at my birth date – I am 41 years old!”</p>
<p>I was taken aback. It really hit me how we can totally believe something that isn’t true. Marty lived with me off and on from the time he was 2 to 18 years old. We were/are very close. At one time I had to know his real age.<br />
At some time I got the thought that he was 8 years younger than me and kept repeating it to myself. A thought that was totally untrue – that I convinced myself was fact.</p></blockquote>
<p>Affirmations work the same way. The problem that many people have with affirmations is that they have thought the negative so long, that their brain simply refuses to believe the positive. This doesn’t mean that affirmations don’t work. They most definitely will work as long as you are ready and willing to release the negative thoughts.</p>
<p>People that struggle with affirmations do so because they have a conversation going on in their head &#8230;</p>
<p>A whisper &#8220;I am worthy&#8221;</p>
<p>A shout &#8220;You are no good for nothing and will never amount to anything!!!&#8221;</p>
<p>The shout is so loud and has been playing so long that it can be a challenge to overcome, but the payoff is well worth it.</p>

<p>The irony of all of this is that we humans have always had the power to obtain our dreams all along. How? By working with The Law of Attraction. This law has been around since the universe began and is working in your life right now &#8211; whether or not you know about or believe it.</p>
<p>What is The Law of Attraction?</p>
<p>You get what you think about, your thoughts determine your destiny. Thoughts have an energy all their own, and they attract things which have a common energy. It is one of the Laws of the Divine Universe and it applies to everyone. It is as unbreakable as any law of science or mathematics. It does not even require your belief to work. Only to control it, to seize your destiny, must you believe in the Law&#8217;s power.</p>
<p>You&#8217;re probably asking how you can use the Law of Attraction to create the life you dream of. Here are some guidelines to help you get started &#8230;</p>
<p>1. Decide EXACTLY what it is that you want. You want to have a clear specific thought of what it is you want to create. If this is hard for you, you might think of what you don&#8217;t want &#8211; the reverse will more than likely be what you do want.</p>
<p>2. Set time aside each day to meditate. Concentrate on FEELING like you already have what you desire right now. You are living in your dream home. You are driving your brand new red sports car. You are financially independent. etc &#8230;</p>
<p>3. Show GRATTITUDE for what you already have, as well as what you are attracting. Say &#8220;I am so happy and thankful now that &#8230;&#8221; This helps you to obtain and maintain the positive vibrations needed to attract good things into your life. Often times, we don&#8217;t get what we want, because we are focusing on the negative. If we are waging war in our minds about what we don&#8217;t want &#8211; we are thinking about it.</p>
<p>Remember: The Law is working in all places at all times. It&#8217;s up to your to use it for yourself, rather than allow it to use you.</p>

<p><img class="alignleft" style="float: left;" src="http://cindysense.com/wp-content/uploads/depression.jpg" alt="Depression" width="212" height="141" />Depression is REAL.  It affects many people regardless of sex, race, or religion.  It doesn&#8217;t care if you&#8217;re living in poverty or in wealth.  It can affect any one in any walk of life.</p>
<p>I have been there.  After my hysterectomy at the young age of 30 I became a person I didn&#8217;t even know.</p>
<p>Nothing made me happy.</p>
<p>Everything made me angry.</p>
<p>I felt as if no one cared, as if no one was there for me.</p>
<p>I wondered what the purpose of life was &#8211; why did I even exist?</p>
<p>I was trying to work through these feelings of mistrust, inadequacy and lack of self when my mother suddenly died.  I was devastated.  I was suicidal &#8211; but I knew I had to be there for my children.  I didn&#8217;t want their father raising them alone.  I thought he was too strict and unable to give the kids the unconditional love they needed.</p>
<p>I continued to go to psychotherapy and talk out my problems and my feelings.</p>
<p>During this time, a good friend of ours was also depressed.  He was admitted to the VA psych ward and put on anti-depressants.</p>
<p><em>He continued to get worse. </em></p>
<p>He began beating his wife (he had never laid a hand on her the 20 years prior.)</p>
<p>He became more isolated and found no joy in anything or anyone.  All he talked about was dying &#8211; and he even knew how he would do it &#8211; he would jump off the bridge onto the 91 freeway.  Within months this was his reality.  It was a very sad day in June that he took his life.</p>
<p><em>At first I thought how brave he was to go through with his plan </em>(remember I was pretty depressed myself.)  Now as I look back on these years, my thoughts have changed.  I wanted to get better &#8211; just as my friend did.  He didn&#8217;t really want his life to end; <strong>he wanted to end the pain</strong> &#8211; the isolation &#8211; the loneliness &#8211; the despair.</p>
<p>I never used any sort of drugs.  I was fortunate to have a psychologist who listened to me &#8211; and helped me to look at life in new ways.  I was also fortunate enough to have a friend, Liz, who could basically see what was inside my heart.  <strong>She allowed me to be me</strong>, to FEEL all the feelings I needed to feel to heal.</p>
<p>My psychologist told me to constantly repeat the Serenity Prayer&#8230;.<br />
<em>&#8220;God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can,<br />
and wisdom to know the difference.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>Note: The origins of the Serenity Prayer are unknown.  It has been traced as far back as the 14th century.  It is the prayer that AA adopted as its creed.</p>
<p><em>I believe that people often get depressed because of something they can not change</em>.  Whether it is something about themselves or about another.</p>
<p>Depression just like happiness and any other feeling that we have <em>begins as a thought</em>.  This thought is a seed.  And when watered and nurtured the seed turns into a very large destructive feeling &#8211; Depression.</p>

<p><strong>To overcome depression</strong>, we must weed out our mind of the destructive thoughts and replace them with constructive thoughts.  It&#8217;s not really as easy as I may be making it sound &#8230;  It does take time and consistency.</p>
<p>When I began accepting things that I could not change, and began being grateful for the things that I did have, my depression began to lift.  It was a long struggle.  Listening to tapes on <a title="Self Esteem" href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=172117&amp;b=121088&amp;m=17130&amp;afftrack=&amp;urllink=www%2Emindtraining%2Enet%2Fself%5Festeem%5Fconfidence%2Ephp3" target="_blank">self esteem and letting go of your past</a>, helped me tremendously.</p>
<p><strong>If you have a loved one that you believe is depressed</strong>, please don&#8217;t tell them to &#8220;Snap out of it.&#8221;  That just makes it worse.  The best thing you can do is: 1) Compliment them when appropriate, 2), Listen to them, 3) Accept their feelings &#8211; don&#8217;t try to fix them or change them.  Try to help them find something in life that they enjoy.</p>
<p>If you are depressed, you may want to consider psychotherapy, before jumping into anti-depressants.  I honestly believe that many people stay down because the pills can&#8217;t change their way of thinking.  In today&#8217;s society we have been led to believe that taking this pill or that pill will fix everything&#8230;</p>

<p>Every action starts with a thought but not all thoughts lead to action.  How many times have you thought of a great idea but didn&#8217;t follow through with it?</p>
<p>What are your thoughts?  What is it that you truly desire?</p>
<p>You’ve probably heard a lot about the Law of Attraction and Positive Thinking.  I wholeheartedly believe in these techniques – however many people are led to believe that all they need to do is think and visualize to make their dreams come true.</p>
<p>It’s important that you know that Your thoughts, dreams and words will not magically give you the things you long for.</p>
<p><strong>The only way you can create the life you desire is to TAKE ACTION.</strong></p>
<p>For example if you visualize yourself in your dream job making a 6 figure income, and every day you affirm this by stating “I work at my dream job making a 6 figure income” – but don’t take action by acquiring the knowledge, skills and training you need for that job … You are just daydreaming.</p>
<p>In our example above, you may not know what skills and training you need …</p>
<p>That’s the beauty of the “Law of Attraction” is that by visualizing and affirming what you want, the answers will come to you on how to obtain it.   <em>You need to take action as soon as possible after you receive the answer.</em></p>
<p>Start a success journal.  Every day write down the actions you took that will bring you one step closer to reaching your goal.  You&#8217;ll be amazed at how all the little things add up.</p>
<p>Stop procrastinating and just do it.  How many times have you dreaded doing certain task &#8211; and then after you&#8217;ve started you really get into it?  It also usually takes a lot less time to achieve the task than you originally thought it would.  And, you feel so much better once it&#8217;s done!</p>
<p>As you continue to use The Law of Attraction you&#8217;ll be surprised at how motivated you become to do whatever it takes to succeed.</p>
<p>You need to find the balance between positive thinking, visualizing and taking action.  By utilizing the “Law of Attraction” and taking action when the answers come to you – you will achieve your goals quicker than you ever thought possible.</p>

<p>When my son Brian was a baby he used to get sick a lot. It was nothing for him to run temperatures of 104 or 105. The kid practically lived in the bathtub.</p>
<p>When Brian was sick he got a lot of extra love and attention from me. His sister Amy used to tell me “I want to be sick so I can get more attention.” (sad I know) I would tell Amy how lucky she was that she rarely got sick – because being sick is no fun.</p>
<p>Brian was a very stubborn – active toddler. He could really try my patience at times. He was definitely all American male.</p>
<p>When I punished him, he would ALWAYS wind up sick within hours. I would then feel guilty for punishing him, and give him lots of love and special attention.</p>
<p>When my father-in-law witnessed an incident . ..</p>
<p>Dad told me “You know Cindy, Brian is just getting sick because he knows you wont punish him when he’s sick, and he knows that you will shower him with love and attention.”</p>
<p>I replied, “That’s crazy, he’s just a baby. How in the heck can he be making himself sick?”</p>
<p>Dad said, “Well he is. Why don’t you test my theory? When he’s sick, go ahead and punish him as normal.”</p>
<p>I thought Dad was nuts and was out to prove him wrong!!!</p>
<p>You guessed it &#8211; when I punished Brian while he was sick, he got well faster. The more consistent I was, the healthier he became.</p>
<p>In my wildest dreams I never would have thought a toddler could create an atmosphere that he desired through his thoughts. Yet, this is exactly what Brian was doing. He learned early how to use his thoughts to get what he wanted.</p>
<p><strong>If a toddler can create their reality</strong> – don’t you think that you as an adult can create your destiny through your thoughts?</p>

<p>Instantly replace any negative thoughts with a positive thought. If you’re thinking &#8220;I&#8217;m going to be late again&#8221; replace it with &#8220;I am always on time&#8221;. Keep repeating &#8220;I am always on time&#8221; to yourself. You&#8217;ll be pleasantly surprised at the results.<br />
