The voice that tells you to eat McDonalds is a very corrupted one. It is molded over time by media and unhealthy examples from your own family when growing up. Even if you parents didn't eat fast-food, they didn't tell you enough the dangers of fast-food, either. Sure, we are a product of our environment, but that doesn't mean you have to kill yourself, too. If you can't stop eating fast-food, then at least ADD real food to your daily diet.

Hi Christine,

I believe all of our thoughts are either positive - in the fact that by listening to them and taking action on them bring them closer to our dreams and goals; Or negative thoughts that will drive us away from our dreams and goals.

I do agree that life is not always positive or negative, things that are negative can appear positive and vice versa.

So how to deal with all the voices? MEDITATE. We are so busy doing "stuff" and listening to tv, the computer, the phone, mp3s or whatever that people seldom take the time to just be still. Try just sitting quietly for 5 minutes and focus on your breathing. The thoughts will come and go, but continue to focus on the breathing.

If you get constant headaches, please have them checked out by your doctor. If he confirms they are from stress, meditation can bring you a calm and inner peace.

It might benefit you to have "<a href="http://cindysense.com/coach" rel="nofollow">Confident Booster" session</a> with me to identify what your thoughts are trying to tell you.

Hi cindy,

You seem to have simplified it all down to a positive and a negative voice...but there are many more different voices and angles of looking at events than that of a + or -.

Then these voices are all giving me a head ache and I need to take some medication for the headache...but the voices don't stop, but their throbbing does.

Any thoughts?

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the kind comments. Yes, I wrote the article, and will write some more about this topic. There are other articles on CindySense on the same topic - but may be worded differently.

I agree with what you said about the commercials. Heck, even children get the jingles real quick. Years ago when my daughter was about two or three years old, she used to go around singing "I'm going to wash the gray right out of my hair". I think it's one of the reasons why so many people flock to McDonalds "You deserve a break today, so get up and get away to McDonalds". Hmmm, maybe I should write an article about the jingles in our heads.

Seriously, though the key is to be aware of what the voices are telling you and then guiding your conscious thoughts to that which you desire. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Great article. Did you write that?

Listening to those voices is so difficult: I think it requires great concentration, which is certainly worth developing. It makes me frown when I try to do it because of the concentration. Maybe frowning is a "conscious" reminder to myself to be aware and to not let those thoughts guide me subliminally. It's scary the things that can get inside our heads, and why isn't anyone concerned that we're constantly walking around with television commercials playing in our head?

Anyway, I'll try to 'listen' more... you should write more about this topic!
